I hope you all had a great long weekend!

TREASURES-we will not have a Treasures test this week. There will not be a spelling assignment or grammar packet either.

SCIENCE- The kids have been working on the research part of their UbD human body project and they are well on the way to being able to make a strong case for their body system. We will be continuing research this week and working more on the actual human body science curriculum.

FREEDOM WALKERS-We will be finishing up our study of The Montgomery Bus Boycott this week. On Friday, we will watch Remember the Titans. Please return the permission slip before Friday.

Our first short-week back from break went very well. It was nice to have a few extra days off, but great to get back to the routine of school!

SCIENCE-We began our study of the human body last week with a discussion of how the body moves. This week we will look at how it is given form (skeletal system) and how bones are connected (joints).

UbD-Last week we also began our long-term research project about the human body. The kids are in groups and each group will be researching one body system and trying to convince the group (Survivor-style) that their system is the best. Various systems will be "voted off" and only one system will remain. The "winning" body system will be the one that the kids determine is the most essential system.

SPELLING/GRAMMAR-We will be back to spelling and grammar this week. The spelling assignment and grammar packet will be due on Thursday and the tests will be Friday.

Next weekend will be a four-day weekend as the kids do not have school on Monday or Tuesday.
