SCIENCE-The children will be testing their insulated water bottles on Monday. It will be exciting to see how well they were able to slow the transfer of heat by using materials they found at home. I will be posting the graph results later in the week. ADVANCED MATH-The Unit 3 test is on Tuesday. We will be reviewing on Monday. The Halloween party will be around 2:15-2:30 on Thursday following the parade. Please keep a close eye on the weather as the Camp Duncan trip is rain or shine. They are compared to a control bottle without anything on it. Control Plastic Wrap Foil Cotton Batting Foam

SCIENCE-Last week the kids saw a demonstration about heat energy transfer. They were able to observe how various rods conducted heat. This lead into a discussion about why we need different materials to conduct heat. This week they will complete an experiment on insulators. TREASURES-We are back to a normal Treasures week this week. There will be a spelling assignment on Edmodo and a grammar packet due Thursday. The spelling, grammar, and Treasures tests will be Friday. SMALL-GROUP NOVELS-As we finish up this round of novels, the kids will end with an ABC Book project that they will work on in class. There is a science homework assignment on Edmodo due Monday. We will work on small-group novels and extended response practice. Please return the Camp Duncan permission slip and payment as soon aaa possible if you have not already done so. The children had an excellent time on Friday at the Historical Reenactment. Please enjoy some pictures of our trip. Have a great Dolphin week! Here are the graphs that the kids made using temperature probes and an application called LoggerLite. They were measuring how the heat energy from warm water caused cold water to heat up.
