LA-Even with our field trip on Friday, we will have a normal week concerning grammar, spelling, and vocabulary.

Please make sure to return the Camp Duncan and the Historical Reenactment permission slips. We go to Naper Settlement this Friday. It is a rain or shine event so please make sure that your child dresses appropriately. They will also need to bring a sack lunch with them. Please remember that no cell phones are allowed on field trips. Wednesday is picture day, and our time is 10:30.

Please make sure to return the Camp Duncan and Naper Settlement permission slips. If you want to chaperone either trip, please send me an email and I'll pick (randomly). MAP testing is over for the fifth grade. We finished last week. Any make-ups will be this week.
ADVANCED MATH-The Unit 1 test was Friday. We will review the test and begin Unit 2 this week. SCIENCE-The kids continued to learn about energy transfers last week and they did and experiment that was specifically for heat energy transfers. We will be working on insulators and conductors this week. Have a great Dolphin week! MAP testing starts this week. Our class will have Math MAP testing on Tuesday morning. The Reading MAP test will be Thursday afternoon. Please try to get a good night's sleep prior to MAP testing and eat a decent breakfast. SCIENCE-The kids learned about the 8 forms of energy last week and took part in an energy walk around the school and grounds to photograph examples of each type. Look for these on Edmodo this week. LA-Because of the Labor Day holiday, the spelling sentences will be due on Wednesday this week rather than on Tuesday. All other LA assignments will remain the same. READING-We'll start the launch unit of our new reading program this week. In addition, I will continue to assess your child's reading using the Fountas and Pinnell kits to determine their instructional reading level.
