I hope everyone had a great holiday break!  

On Monday, The Robert Crown Center will be here to present the Linda/Michael program to the kids.  The boys and girls will be given separate presentations and they may have questions for you when they get home Monday night.

We continue our integrated unit on westward expansion.  The children have had many opportunities so far to experience some of the struggles that people traveling west on the Oregon Trail would have been exposed to.  We will continue with the Pioneers simulation, the nonfiction book, Children of the Wild West, partner reading of novels, and close small group reading of nonfiction related text for the next few weeks.

World of Work is on Friday this week.  Your child will receive his or her placement on Thursday.

I hope you were able to outside and enjoy the nice weather that we finally had this past weekend!  Is it time to say goodbye to winter?

SOCIAL STUDIES-we will be finishing up our unit on westward expansion from the History Alive! book this week.  A study guide will be sent home in preparation for the test.

INTEGRATED UNIT-we are starting an integrated unit on pioneers and westward expansion that will include reading, writing, and social studies.  The reading part will be both whole-group and small-group and it will also include a read aloud book.  The kids will additionally be participating in a simulation that has them traveling west as part of a wagon train.
