We are done with our vocabulary and grammar routine for the year! We’ll continue to work on these areas during our literacy block with a variety of other activities.
We are also done with our reading response and vlog assignments.
We’re wrapping up our ecosystems science unit. The unit test will be Monday, June 3. Resources to review will be shared on Edmodo or can be found here.
We continued this week with The Killing Sea, a novel that highlights the events of the Indonesian tsunami of 2004. Students will continue to have time in class each day to work on their reading assignments. They will be taking open book quizzes each day to gauge understanding of the text. Students will also have the opportunity to meet in small groups to discuss plot details and reactions to the story. Our tentative reading plan is as follows:
Spring is a busy time for 5th grade! Here are some upcoming events to note:
- Yearbooks will be distributed on Thursday, June 6th
- Field Day- Friday, June 7 (be sure to pack sunscreen, a beach towel for lunch, and a water bottle). There will be no “cold lunch” options for purchase that day. Your child should plan to bring a lunch from home or order the hot dog hot lunch.
- Last day of school- Monday, June 10
