I hope you had a great week and that you're staying warm today! We had a busy week getting back into the routine and enjoying our field trip to see Tired Souls.
Here are some updates for the week ahead:
Next week we will resume our grammar and vocabulary routines and will be back to a typical weekly schedule.
Monday- Grammar and vocabulary introduced in class and assigned
Tuesday- Vocabulary sentences due on Edmodo
Thursday- Vocabulary assignment on Edmodo due, grammar packet due
Friday- Vocabulary and grammar quizzes
Students with numbers 13-24 have their next Vlog due on Friday, February 15. The directions, topic choices, and rubric for assessing them can be found here.
We will be starting our next science unit next week, Investigating Matter!
Wednesday, we will be having the Freedom Walkers assessment. This assessment is an opportunity for students to demonstrate understanding of the skills we have been practicing in class with this text. Students should review the work in their Freedom Walkers packets to prepare, as the assessment will have very similar types of questions. The assessment will focus on Chapter 7 of Freedom Walkers. Students are strongly encouraged to pre-read chapter 7 prior to the assessment. They may use the book during the test; there is nothing for students to memorize.
Students will be bringing home a permission slip for Remember the Titans in this week’s Friday folders. Please return this form as soon as possible. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
We will have Valentine’s Day parties on Thursday, February 14th around 2:30pm. If your child would like to pass out valentines, please remember that no food items may be attached or passed out. We also ask that when passing out valentines to remember to include all students in the class. Students will be given a class list. We will not be decorating boxes or bags to collect valentines in class. Students are welcome to craft something at home, or can be given a plastic bag to collect valentines in class that day.
At the end of February, 5th Grade will have the annual Erin’s Law Presentations. These will be given by our wonderful social worker, Mrs. Judy Thompson. Each 5th grade class is scheduled sometime throughout the week of February 25th. If you would like any further information about Erin’s Law, our district website has some resources you can explore.
